How it works

Four evenings, roughly, and then it arrives.

  1. A cut-paper picture: a boy and a fox on a garden path at night, under a tree and a full moon, a lit house behind.
    01 · The picture

    A picture from a story you made in the Studio. The boy and the fox began as a drawing your child already made — never a photograph — and stay themselves on every page.

  2. The same picture pulled apart into its layers: sky and moon, tree and house, the two figures, the path and flowers.
    02 · Its layers

    Every picture is made in layers — sky, tree, the two of them, the path. That is what lets a picture become a thing you can hold, and it is why the story ends where you end it: each page is its own.

  3. The layers laid out as pieces on one sheet, each with a dotted cut line: tree, sky, house, the boy, the fox, plants, stones.
    03 · The sheet

    You read it through yourself, then choose a format from the shelf. Only then are the layers laid out as pieces on a sheet and printed — nothing is made until you order it.

  4. The pieces built up into a standing paper diorama, the moon and the house windows lit from behind.
    04 · The keepsake

    Cut, folded and standing: the same picture, as an object. It is posted to you, and it is the last thing that happens — there is no feed after it, and nothing plays on its own.
